Strippers pissed off because unauthorized photos of them appeared online.
The comments in this article are pure fail. There are a lot of people there who are criticizing the strippers for being pissed off, because apparently if you take your clothes off for money, you're not entitled to any privacy or a personal life. ("You take your clothes off and show everyone your boobs, so you shouldn't complain when somebody sees them, hurr hurr hurr.") One jackass said that he figured the strippers were really upset about not making any money from the pictures, because strip club prices are too high.
Excuse me? If they're too high, then don't fucking go to strip clubs. They're not essential to life and health, so effing bite me and quit whining about it.
People seem to be overlooking a few things here. One, most strippers do what they do because they like it and/or they need the money. Two, these women were taking their breaks and weren't going to change into civvies just for 15 minutes, and considering they hadn't left the premises, that's all fine and dandy for them to choose to to. Three, they're entitled to their damn privacy!
There's a reason that when company websites show pictures of their employees, they have to get the employee's permission to do it. For one thing, it's just good manners. For another, every employee of every company has some right to privacy, no matter what they do, and violating that privacy is against the law. Also, if I happen to be standing outside of the call centre I work at, wearing nice shoes, someone is not entitled to come along and snap a picture and then post it to employeeshavenicefeet.com unless I damn well say so, and the argument that I was showing my feet off already is not going to hold water.
To assume otherwise is like saying that it's okay to stalk porn stars and secretly film them having sex with their real-life lovers, all because they have sex in front of cameras.
People seem to regularly forget that strippers are people too. Just because they're pretty and talented and their job involves turning you on does not mean that they have less rights than you, and it doesn't mean you're entitled to a free show just because you've got a camera and no moral centre.
