sarasvati: Squashed Teddie from Persona 4, looking angry (RAWR!)

I was supposed to do some volunteer work for the local Animal Rescue League. Two hours of sitting outside a store and collecting donations. Nothing spectacular. But then as I went to catch the bus to get there, I noticed that I was missing my bus pass.

And my house keys.

And didn't have enough time or energy to walk halfway across the city to get where I needed to be.

Well, that put paid to that idea. Now if I want to go anywhere today, I'm going to either need to wait until Rei gets back from work, or time things so that I get back after he'll be home, to let me in. Which is a real shame, since it looks like the first nice day we've had all week. No clouds in the sky, and it doesn't seem like it's too cold or too warm.

Maybe I'll be able to convince Rei to go for a walk later on. I can probably tempt him with hot chocolate or something. (Never underestimate the power of chocolate-based bribery!)

That still doesn't exactly solve the problem of knowing that I'll have to rely on working solely to Rei's schedule until we can afford to get another key cut, if I don't find at least my keys soon. And that I'll be walking everywhere for the rest of the month, regardless of weather or health, if I want to go anywhere. I enjoy walking, but if we need cat food in the middle of a rainstorm, I won't have much choice but to go out in it. :/ Plus the guilt of knowing that my mother spent $65 on that monthly bus pass and I lost it halfway through the month? If I'd known that would happen, I'd have just gotten a cheaper clip pass and spent the remainder of the money on food!

But maybe I'll still find everything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

On a more positive note, I seem to have gotten some of my writing mojo back. I forced myself to write something last night, and it seemed that the words just started flowing from my fongers after a few sentences. It doesn't always work like that, but believe me, I'm glad it did. I was tired of having ideas that went nowhere because I couldn't quite bring myself to do more than jot down the idea itself and then leave it alone.

Second good note, I made another delicious pot of baked beans yesterday, with pieces of ham mixed in. It had a slightly funny taste, which I think was due to using a different brand of tomato soup in the recipe than I normally do, but it still tasted pretty good. There was enough left over for Rei's lunch today, too. And keeping the oven on certainly did help to warm the kitchen yesterday!

I also want to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's deconstruction of idiocy. Some people found it via linking users whom I hadn't heard of before; I didn't think my rant would get around that much!
