Your daily source for rambling nonsense.
Sep. 5th, 2010 08:38 amBecause I'm just that awesome, I ended up ripping off a toenail last night. It hurt. Damn, did it hurt! I suspect I won't be able to wear anything on my feet for a few days (my sandals have fallen apart, and all I have left are sneakers and some ill-fitting dress shoes that I suffer through wearing for interviews only), which means there go my plans to get a few errands done today. But since stores are only open for a few hours today, and tomorrow's a holiday, it isn't a huge inconvenience to wait until Tuesday.
Finished Ilsa Bick's Draw the Dark last night, and the review's scheduled for later today. I really loved that book. Honestly, I can't think of many people I wouldn't recommend that one to, unless they're die-hard not-fans of horror or dark fantasy/paranormal stuff. Maybe those who only read chick-lit and romance wouldn't quite enjoy it, I guess.
Today is actually cooler outside than it's been in a week! The hurricane that everyone panicked about passed over us with about 10 minutes of heavy rain and a whole lot of drizzle, and while it's still far too warm for me to be comfortable, it's cooler than it was and that makes me happy!
Though being out in said drizzle yesterday did, indeed, kick my cold into overdrive. Another good reason to stay inside for a day or so, I guess. No need to make myself sicker, or spread it to other people.
School starts again on Tuesday. Lucky buggers who get to go. :/ Every year around this time, I keep telling myself I should do more studying on my own, so that I've got a good head-start when I go to university. Then I forget, because I lack textbooks and a schedule and often, long-lasting motivation. It's so easy to put things off when you're the only person you answer to, and what you're doing isn't essential. I really envy the people who have enough money to go to university, or hell, I even actually envy the high school students who don't have a choice in the matter.
But for now, since I can do nothing about that, I'll just go and make myself some tea to help soothe my throat. Ugh, I despise being sick. Pity it happens so damn often.
