sarasvatiI have to admit, as much as my life isn't great right now, it could be a hell of a lot worse. I could be like my mother, who's filing for bankruptcy for the second time in her life.
I am now in the process of contacting the government, and possibly a lawyer, regarding my last job and their nonpayment of wages owed to me. The owner has been dragging his feet about paying us, delaying and delaying and delaying, and I'm tired of waiting for pay that should have been given to me last September.
I'd have found a lawyer already if the business hadn't been incorporated, which means that shareholders have limited liability from company debt in most cases. The problem is that nobody seems to be able or willing to tell me whether this case is one where they do or don't have to pay, and most other employees seem to have given up on the thought of ever getting their money. But no, I'm tired of this and I want my damn pay and I'm seeking all the advice I can get on this, and if it's an actionable case I'll sort things out with a lawyer and get others involved and get what's owed to us. Quite frankly, I want to sue them for all they're worth, for workplace health code violations and misappropriation of funds and wage nonpayment and dragging their feet and just generally being assholes about the whole damn thing. If I can get thousands of dollars out of them, I'll try for it!
But for now I'm going out to get bread, butter, and cold meds. Party at my place tonight!
