If there's any downside to having to get up at 6:00 every weekday (aside from, of course, having to get up at 6:00 every weekday), it's that when my body adjusts, it no longer lets me sleep in on weekends. I think I managed to wake up at 7, tossed and turned until 8, then gave up and just came into the living room instead of frustrating myself even further.

And when I came out here, I was greeted with the sight of snow outside the window!

Not just little flurries. We've apparently had those already, though I haven't personally seen them. And every time the Weather Network predicts mixed precipitation, it turns out to be a sunny day. But no, it's been snowing for well over an hour now, and it's sticky stuff, too, since it's still piling up on cars and on the sidewalk.

I always get excited when I see the first big snowfall of the year. Something about it fills me with a childish sense of glee, like this is a special day that ought to be fun. I always want to go outside and dance in the falling snow, laughing because I'm so happy. Of course, today also is Samhain, so I have two reasons to celebrate! And celebration will be done with fresh apple pie, which I'll start making once Daniel's out of bed so that I don't disturb him.

Speaking of apple pie, we went to deliver one to Van and TL last night, and ended up staying far longer than we intended. Half of the evening was spent talking about our pets, and the other half about the dumbass stuff that our old boss did. It was good to rant a little more, and in that ranting, I found out that during the time we were still paying our insurence premiums but that money wasn't actually getting to the insurence company, said boss was funneling the funds into his own personal vacation.

...I want to smack that man so hard. I knew he must have been pocketing the money, but now I know exactly where it went.

Or rather, likely where it went, since we have no solid proof that this was being done. Evidence, but no proof. And the company was set up in such a way that they covered their tracks quite neatly, such as having extra bank accounts that weren't connected directly to the business but that were used to hold the money that came from selling their assets. Which ultimately meant that the freeze put on the main accounts meant nothing. That freeze was there so that the government could collect all the money that they, and we, were owed. Bypassing that meant that the money they got could be taken by them and not end up where it was actually supposed to go.

Van said that he's even willing to forgive all this, and not even demand the money that he's owed, on one condition: that the owner of the company (the woman who screwed us over royally and insists that she has no responsibility left to us) donate her pancreas and a kidney to him. I approve of this plan. :p Functioning organs take priority, methinks.

Okay, time to get in a little reading before the cleaning and baking begin. And hopefully we can get the keys to the new apartment today, so that we can go over and give the place a blessing before we start moving everything in.
