Robert Pattinson gets tired of always talking Twilight, has done other movies too.

Interesting and amusing article. On the other hand...

Please don’t misunderstand him. Mr. Pattinson, 24, is fully aware that he probably would not have much of a career without the “Twi-hards,” as the mostly female following of the movies are known. His only role of note prior to Edward Cullen was a bit part in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” as Cedric Diggory, the doomed love interest of Hermione.

... Wait, did I blink and miss the part where Cedric and Hermione had anything to do with each other aside from appearing in a few scenes together?

Research fail, Brooks Barnes. Come on, it's not even like it's a hard movie to find, or like it's difficult to find half a million recaps out there!

...And I can't break into the world of writing or journalism beyond an amateur bookblog and a few freelance article sites that will accept just about anyone. Sigh.

[personal profile] darthneko mentioned The Sketchbook Project , which means that I initially bemoaned my lack of $25 spare to do that project myself. I thought it would be a very good way for me to get back in the swing of things, art-wise, and hell, when else am I going to get the chance to have my art tour some major galleries in America?!

Knowing I couldn't participate, I still decided to spread the word on Facebook, since I know a few artists who might be interested in such a thing. Next thing I know, I have a message from an old coworker and fabulous friend, offering to pay the $25 fee for me as a late birthday present so that I could do it!

I swear, I had tears in my eyes!

So now I'm going to have the chance to get sketchy, to have my art tour the States, and to be archived in an art gallery.

I can't help but feel a moment of dark glee here, too, since the other day I remembered all too clearly that my father used to call me a failure and tell me that I deserved to fail. And now this. This, and other awesome things like making contacts with authors and publishers and getting free books out of the bargain. That, and having such wonderful friends. I feel very well justified in not calling myself a failure when I have all this in my life, and when things will only get better.

Thank you, Van, for being the awesome person that you are!

[Edit] - Van just sent me another message to say that he added on the other $20 to digitize the sketchbook too, so that even more people can see the artwork and it can be added to the digital library when all is said and done. All I can say by this point is that it's a shame this man is already married, because he's the biggest sweetheart in the world, and deserves far more than he has.
