I went to donate blood yesterday for the first time (I live in Austria) and was completely surprised by the question (translated) "Are you a man who has had sex with other men?" I checked and homosexual men are really not allowed to donate blood at all. After "one-time HIV-infection-risky behavior" one has to wait 4 month, but because "condoms don´t offer complete protection, all men who ever had sex with men are at a significant higher risk of infection and can´t donate" (translated). I can understand being careful, but "ever"? WTF.
